Here, I post an awesome computerized portrait of me, made by the fabulous Aline. Pretty good, eh? What can I say, but she has captured me at my cockiest best. Mlassic can. =)

The Women's World Cup has juuust begun. These are one of the rare times I cheer on the United States, but what can I say? These women are absolutely amazing, and in the wake of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) being forced to cease operations due to lack of funds, maybe something even more amazing will happen to turn it all around.

Kim Clijsters, left, and Justine Henin-Hardenne, right, before they begin play for the US Open Championship title.
Well, the US Open Women's Singles Championship match just finished. I had hoped for an all Belgium, "Belgium Powaa!!" final and an all Belgium final is what I got. Even though Justine Henin-Hardenne had only 20 hours to recover and prepare her for the finals match, she dominated the final game against my favourite tennis player and Belgian, Kim Clijsters. I can't say I'm too disappointed with the final. All I really wanted was to see Henin-Hardenne and Clijsters both reach the finals. True, I was disappointed that Clijsters didn't give Henin-Hardenne as much of a run for the championship as I would have liked her to (she got taken in straight sets: 7-5, 6-1), but at least the final game wasn't a goddamn Williams final! YARGH! So boring.
Hopefully, both Belgians will step up in their tennis game to overtake the Williams' and eventually become the title holders of "undisputed powerhouses of women's tennis." Henin-Hardenne has an amazing amount of mental and physical toughness, and Clijsters, in time, will too, but for now she's just gotta keep doing what she's doing and thats kicking ass! She just has to do it even more consistently from now on. GO KIM! =)

Holy shit! I never thought I'd be typing these words ever again, but miracles do come true! That's right ladies and gentlemen. I have updated my Tech Deck Archive. I recently bought myself a street pack, it came with a deck plus a rail and two barriers. Pretty good deal, since I've always wanted my own metal grind rail. My only complaint that it's not long enough...and the bases for the rail and barriers could be heavier to avoid sliding and stuff when grinding.

Ahhh, the sweet soothing sound of whiny pop/punk. The main staple of teenage angst. Oh so detrimental...
This just in! A-Lo's new music project is online! Check it out, the DJ Dorkus Marlorkus track, EatAllDayGrowBoyEat.

Well, it's been forever since I've updated this page. Mostly because I've been doing very un-picture worthy things.
Anyhow, I was volunteering at the Fringe Theatre Festival, or doing something involving it from July 2nd to July 13th. It was a lot of fun. At the beginning of the festival I was working mostly hotline shifts, i.e. answering inquiries, taking down advance ticket orders etc. Those were a lot of fun, I even got some pictures of the hotline office...not the most exciting looking place ever, but I met lots of nice people and hey! I even got a free t-shirt, in addition to the volunteer t-shirt I'm supposed to get for volunteering. Hotline shifts were a lot of fun, I wish I had more, but alas, when I booked my shifts I also decided to take some box office duties as well. In box office, it's mostly selling tickets and sometimes you usher for plays, which secretly means you get to see plays for free (in addition to the passes to see a play for free after working a shift). Box office was kinda dull in comparison to hotline, you sit around for an hour doing nothing, especially right after a show has just been let in. Since the tix for the next play don't start selling until an hour before it's showtime, so you just sit there and wait until it becomes an hour before the next showtime and nothing happens, it's a totally dead time, nothing gets accomplished!
All in all, I saw 16 plays, and I only ended up paying for two of them! WOO! I saved a lot of money, over $100 actually, which is good. If I had paid to see 16 plays at $8 a pop, I'd be damn broke! =) Of the plays that I saw and liked the most, my picks would have to be, Bird's Eye View (a kid's play), Toothpaste and Cigars (a romantic comedy, but a romantic comedy that was good.), and Leggs Over Easy (a sketch play) and an honourable mention goes out to No One Showed Up for the Anarchist Rally (comedy).
I didn't see anything that really sucked, or I had a really strong reaction against. Out of the 16 I saw I felt one play needed some polishing, and another I just didn't get, but it was short and therefore not painful, plus I HAD to watch it as part of my ushering duties. So I'm not mad that I had to watch it, it would have been worse if I had used up one of my passes or even worse, paid, to see it. =) You know how it is, wanting to see it, and then getting really let down by the end result. I'm pretty happy that most of the plays I planned on seeing turned out pretty good.
From left to right: at the Fringe office, hotline workers are busy taking down advance ticket orders and giving people directions to venues!, The advance ticket sale tracking walls! Yes, your eyes don't deceive you, one of those slips does indeed say 'Pick Up Bras'. ;)
I also straightened out the Old Updates page. I archived the updates into pages that hold 4 months of updates at a time. I did this because I didn't want the page taking FOREVER to load due to the mass accumulation of pictures over time. So I divided them up for the sake of faster access to the complete archive.

I scanned and posted the DBR pics from race day that I've developed so far. Yes! There is still another full roll to be developed! So come back to see the new pics once I develop and post them. I didn't include any pics from the journey TO Centre Island, because my damn camera had been set to night shot and so the feckin' pictures turned out all blurry! Boo-fuckin'-urns! Click here to be immediately transported to the DBR page!

I went to the Jays game yesterday with Eric, David, Krish and Ioan. We had pretty good seats, thanks SARS package! You rock! =)Click here to see the pics from the game.

I went to MEC, for the first time ever, with Kristi and Caitlin today. It's a very brightly lit building with skylights, it was nice. Caitlin bought a blue back pack, I suspect Eric has the same style, only his is a faded red, while Caitlin's is a vibrant blue!
After MEC, the three of us went to the Julia Butterfly speaking thing. A little background info for you: Julia Butterfly is a woman who lived in a 200ft California Redwood for 2 years in a successful attempt to save it from being chopped down. She was an AMAZING speaker, very animated and very open. She brought up a lot of good insights in life and spoke about getting out there and being proactive, and not waiting to act, because our inaction is detrimental. She's a very inspiring individual. I enjoyed it very much, everybody go out there and hug a tree! and reduce your waste! =)

I can't sleep! So I figured this would be a good time to post the pictures I took at the final DBR boat practice that happened on June 6th. Click here to check them out!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC!
May all things hot be with you!

I just got my formal photos developed today! I scanned a whole bunch of them and added them to the formal page, check them out! Of course, scanner quality is nowhere near digi cam quality but, eh, I did the best I could. If you really like a pic, tell me and I'll loan you the negative or something.
(24/5/2003)
Hello, hello! Formal went down 2 days ago and didn't end until yesterday! woo hoo! I had an amazing time. The photos I took were an equal amount of digital and actual film photos. I have yet to develop the film pics but I have uploaded the digital ones onto this site so, check them out! and Yes! these are photos of me in a dress! I know, I'm shocked too! Click now! lol

Lots of news from yesterday!
I am still extremely sore from boat practice. It was raining and cold which made practice the equivalent of a practice and a half. My theory is that the cold was affecting my back muscles which is why it was hurting so much while I was paddling...that and I probably need to stretch my back more thoroughly from now on. I brought the digital camera, yay for after-boat-practice photos!
Clockwise from the top left: Kaili, Nick, and Karyn waiting around, Michelle wants the ice cream just behind the camera, Cynthia enjoying a delicious and refreshing Vita Soy, and Lisa sitting near a capsized boat, noooo! Lisa!! save yourself!!!
After boat practice, I went to the "Save the Spirit Bear" concert benefit. (Spirit Bears are white black bears, basically an albino black bear, pretty crazy eh? Apparently, there are only under 400 of them left, therefore making them extremely endangered, booo!) Before we went in, we stopped off at the local falafel restaurant and I purchased and ate my first falafel, EVER! I still have no idea what I ate, but damn, was it ever good! I can honestly say I like falafels and regret not taking a picture of the falafel I consumed or the restaurant at which I purchased it. Falafel, falafel, falafel!
The concert was fun for the most part, except for the portion of the evening where there was an incident of observing some...er, a lot of dry humping in a drunken/possibly drugged stupor on the dance floor...*shudder* so emotionally scarring...I took some photos (of the bands! the bands! not the dry humping...yergh *shudder*), they're blurry because I didn't want to send the performers into seizures by using the crazy flash on the digital camera, so opted to use night shot instead.
Through the blur, you shall see saxophoning and singing. =)

I've come to the realisation that throat drops do not work. I have had a sore throat, on and off, for about 2 weeks if not more now, and despite taking throat drops (Vicks, which is mild and Cepacol, which is supposedly extra strength), sometimes 2 at once, and I am, still, offered no relief from my sore throat. Perhaps I've built up some sort of super menthol resistance that keeps me from relieving a sore throat...hmmm...
Here's a picture I took with Stephanie's (Chiao) now-retired manual camera, she has a digital now. :P

I got a haircut today. It doesn't look any different from what it looked like before, it's just a little neater now. The DBR carwash got postponed today, due to excessively crappy weather. I also bought the All - American Rejects self titled album. It's pretty good, I like most of the songs on it. It has a good un-boringness factor. Currently my favourite song on the album is Time Stands Still.

It's a new month! So I've moved all old updates into its archive.
I have decided in favour of having the pictures page. It'll be much easier for me to create a page and then just dump the link in there instead of having to update the other pages as well, and having to post its link an x number of times. So Enjoy!
What a tossed salad of emotions and events I have endured today...and why DID all the shit hit the fan today? It is not a good day for the Chans...
